Walden's Thumb
#1
I have an old, old, Walton's Thumb made by Hank Roberts in Boulder, CO. It's an angler's tool about the size and configuration of fingernail clippers. In addition to nippers, it's got pliers, a crimper, a knife blade, a spitshot opener, scissors, a bodkin, a screwdriver, and another blade which I never figured out what it was for. Everything except the springs were nicely made out of stainless, but my springs have rusted out. I bought an Abel Perfect Tool, and although it has a few more functions, isn't as handy and is missing the pliers and splitshot opener which I use often. Hank Roberts has been out-of-business for quite awhile. Does anyone know if some other company has picked up the patent and producing the Thumb?

Those are some killer little tools, no matter what kind of fishing you do from trout fishing with a fly rod to offshore fishing for Wahoo. I have a fishing "tool" very similar to what you're talking about. It's very handy and has all the above amenities you spoke of plus a few new ones. They are made by a comany called Coast. Coast if more commonly known for knives, but thier multi-tool is designed with the fisherman in mind and is quite inovative. Check it out, it's not too expensive either. Check out this web site:

Click on the "folding fishing tool" It's the shiznit. I promise you'll like it, it's worth the money if you like being the "magyver" of your fishing friends.
