New York Announces Rule Changes For Saltwater Species

ALBANY, NY--The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) announced changes in the state's 2004 recreational fishing regulations for summer flounder, scup and black sea bass. These include new size restrictions, season dates and bag limits.

Fluke: Minimum length: 17 inches; possession limit: 3; open season: May 15-September 6.

Porgy: Minimum length: 11 inches; possession limit: 20; open seasons: June 16-October 17 and November 1-30.

Black sea bass: Minimum length: 12 inches; possession limit: 25; open season: January 1-September 22 and October 8-December 31.
