Margaret Fish?
#1
Last night, my wife Andria and I went out fishing and took along a neighbor who has sheep and roosters as pets.

We have been catching what the Bahamians call Margaret Fish, yet when I look it up, the only fish I can find is the whitebone Porgie that resembles it. This fish measured a little over 18 inches. Any help in Identity?

Neighbor also landed one a little shorter, and we all caught many in the 12 inch range.

We did loose a bigger one yesterday due to a Reef or brownish coloured shark that decided he wanted the fish more than we did just as they came up to the boat. Andria was screaming that she caught this big fish as I saw the shark come up from the bottom, along the side of the boat and then watched her fish disappear along with the shark.

That fish looks interesting. It is almost like a fish that we have here called the moon fish. Only yours has more scales to is. I will check into it for you and get back. Nice catch though. I have had several occasions where I only pull up half a fish due to sharks.

That one doesn't look much like a Whitebone Porgie. Here is a pic for you to compare.

your fish. From what I can see there is a lot of difference. I could not find the Margaret Fish anywhere on the web. I believe there is a site that can identify it for you. I will find it and let you know.
