Fraser River
#1
FISHING: Good
The river has dropped approx 18" this past few days and conditions are good for bar fishing. The Fraser opened for Chinook on May 1st, the same as previous years. Since opening day there have been a few fish caught but not great numbers so far. Most of the fish are under twenty pounds but there have been a few bigger Chinook moving through. Native fishers are catching fish but the numbers have dropped this week. There should be a push of fish anytime soon, but this is day to day reality during May. Sturgeon fishing slowed in the Chilliwack area but the fishing below Mission has improved greatly with some very good reports coming from the Pitt River and above areas. You may want to venture down to the mouth of the Sumas where it meets the Fraser for some Chinook. Trolling spoons, casting or fishing bait can be very worthwhile at this time of year. It is an option if the Fraser has poor visibility.
