S.D. State Parks Campsite Availability Report Online

PIERRE, S.D. - Campers wanting to make spur-of-the-moment camping trips to state park areas can check the Game, Fish and Parks online weekend campsite availability report. The report is updated each Thursday for the upcoming Friday arrival on the state parks website at www.sdgfp.info/Parks.

The report shows the number of sites available on a first-come, first-serve basis for the weekend at state parks and recreation areas throughout the state. Reservations are not available for those sites, since Wednesday is the last day to make reservations for an upcoming Friday arrival.

"This report is a great tool for campers, especially those who are unable to plan in advance or who need a quick get-away vacation." said Emilie Miller, information specialist with the Division of Parks and Recreation.

The availability report is posted during the summer camping season and through Oct. 7 for parks accepting autumn reservations.

In addition, campers can view and download free campground maps and other publications on the state parks website. A calendar of events in state parks can also be found online.

For more information on the parks, visit www.sdgfp.info/Parks, contact your local park, or call (605) 773-3391.
