We enjoyed stable weather this weekend and in return the fishing was fantastic. Saturday was a day of maintenance for the “Last Chance” as the weather was perfect and we were itching to get out. Sunday morning we left the docks to light winds and clear skis with a perfect view of the sunrise over the lake. We set up in 20 feet south of the harbor with a full spread of ski boards, downriggers and dipsy divers. We worked our way in and out in search of some active fish, but the fishing the first 1 ½ hours were pretty slow with only one hit. Suddenly the port dipsy diver rod started to scream line off the reel which completely startled the crew. After 15 minutes of line screaming runs we slid the net under 15 pounds of king salmon. From that point on, our crew had no time to rest for the remainder of their trip as we boated fish non-stop for the next 3 hours. We ended up with 9 fish total, 7 brown trout 3 of which ranged from 12 to 16 pounds, 1 king salmon and 1 lake trout. We caught fish on a variety of spoons in orange and green, also some on stick baits in black /silver and black /white.
