Special Trout Fishing Opportunity For Oregon Youths
#1
ROSEBURG, OR--Young people visiting Oregon's Millicoma Interpretive Center this spring and summer can fish for and keep rainbow trout every day during daylight hours. Volunteer hosts are on site and several rods are available for loan.

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) stocked the Center's pond last month with 500 legal-sized rainbow trout as part of the state's new Youth Angling Enhancement Program. Another 500 trout will be stocked this month. Funding for the trout stockings came from a $50,000 appropriation from the Oregon Legislature and a partnership with the Oregon Wildlife Heritage Foundation, which has pledged an additional $50,000 and is working with ODFW to develop and promote youth angling opportunities throughout the state.

Under Oregon's Sport Fishing Regulations, anglers 13 years and under can fish for free. A youth fishing license is required for anglers 14-17 years of age. All regular state fishing regulations will continue to apply to those fishing the interpretive center.
