Arkansas River
#1
FISHING: Poor
Stream Flow [[#0000ff]click here[/#0000ff]]

Current Conditions

Flow: 380 Wellsville, 242 Granite

Clarity: Fair to poor

Water Temperature: High 40’s to Mid 50’s

Major Food Organisms: Midges, caddis, stoneflies, and baetis

Hatches: Midges, caddis, and baetis

14 Day Forecast: Run-off will prevail!

Tips and Other Information: The best fishing is up-river near Granite. My suggestion is to fish the State Land between the “head waters” and Clear Creek Reservoir. Fish with a #10 Golden Stonefly dropped with a #16-18 Bead Head Prince, #16-18 Bead Head Breadcrust, or #16 Chartreuse Copper John. The water is not terribly high on the lower river, however; the water is off-colored. Streamer fishing has been the most productive as of late. If the temperature gets warm this week this river will blow out!

Effective Patterns: #18 Bead Head Breadcrust, #20-22 Mercury Midge, #20-22 Mercury Baetis, #16 Puterbaugh Caddis, #16 Hi Vis Caddis, #16 Elk Hair Caddis, #10 Cone Head Black Bugger, #10 Golden Stonefly, #2-22 Sparkle Wing RS II, #20-22 Pheasant Tail, #18-22 Barr Emerger #18 (baetis), #18-22 Black and Chartreuse Copper Johns.
