Fishing in the trees
#1
I went to Monroe last weekend and the water is HIGH... the fish are biting but it's tough fishing unless you ditch the boat, put on the waders and walk into the woods... thats were the big ones are feasting... But i did have a fun day just pitching a bobber with bee-moths about 15" down as close to the brush ANYWHERE around the steeper banks (you cant get to far into the flooded lowlands). I caught a ton of small bluegill, and crappie, got one small bass with a spinner in about 20 foot of water reeling at a medium speed... Hmm wonder if the bass are already moving out? the water temp was from 71 to 75 degrees, does anyone have any insight or tips I'm most likely going back this weekend, I'm fairly new to the lake (fished it last summer in the dog days and landed a few 4 plus pounders) and this flooded water was a new one for me...

Thanks for the report. I haven't been to Monroe in a while. I may have to check it out soon.
