Bait shop report

Bill Garey, Trenton, came in with a 34 1/2-pounder; Ray Smith Jr. of Seaside Park had a 42 1/4-pounder; John Pochinski, Mantoloking, had two - 41 and 47 pounds - and Frank Zappella, Seaside Heights, had a 35 1/4-pounder.

Mick Morris, Brielle, stopped at Brielle Bait and Tackle with a 44-pound striper that he caught on a live bunker off Sea Girt, and Mickey Alpert, Lakewood, came in with a 43-pounder he caught on live bunker off Bay Head.

Jim Krul, Brielle, fished the Shrewsbury Rocks with live eels, and brought a 34 1/2-pound bass into Capt. Bill's Bait and Tackle, Neptune. Charles Temple, Bordentown, and friends caught five bass up to 34 1/2 pounds on bunker spoons.

Gene Bernardo, West Long Branch, fished Sandy Hook Bay with bunker heads, and caught a 34 1/2-pound bass that he weighed at Steven's Bait and Tackle, Long Branch.

William Owens, Neptune, and Derrick McLanson, Belmar, fishing from the latter's Patty II, caught four bass to 32 pounds on live bunkers Monday, and weighed them at Mac's Bait and Tackle, Neptune.

Ted Johnson, owner of the Boatasiaus, trolled off Elberon, and caught a 43-pound striped bass on wire line and a Wilarm bunker spoon. The fish was weighed at The Reel Seat, Brielle.

Stan Czewkay and Keith Monahan, both of Brick, topped their catch of striped bass with a 30-pound, 44 1/2-inch striper they caught trolling bunker spoons at the Shrewsbury Rocks. The fish was weighed at Fishermen's Supply, Point Pleasant Beach.

Chris Karbownik, Toms River, caught a 35.7-pound striper on clams in the Asbury Park surf, and weighed it at Scott's Bait and Tackle, Bradley Beach. Andy Barkhorn, Bradley Beach, had one that went 32.3 pounds and measured 44 1/2 inches long.
