The flows at Kirby Ranch are 1130 C.F.S. The river is green above the West Fork of the Madison. Below the West fork the river is really dirty and pretty unfishable. If you want to fish the upper try the area near Reynolds pass or between the lakes. Cabin and Beaver creek are both running high and dirty so if you fish between the lakes there is only the short stretch of river that is clear until Cabin creek enters the river. There are some midges and baetis hatching on the upper reaches of the river but the clarity is not quite good enough for the fish to be real interested in feeding on the surface. Nymphing has been good though in the greenish water and keep your fly patterns dark in color so that the fish can make out the fly easier.

Fly Pattern Suggestions: Black CH Buggers #2-6, Black Beauty #2-6, CH Bow Bugger #2-6, Yuk Bug #2-6, Ugly Bug #4-8 Egg Patterns, San Juan Worms, BH Prince #8-12, Griffith's Gnat #16-18, Mother Shucker #20, Red Midge Larvae #18-20
