Lilly Lake
#1
Hiked up to Lilly lake last weekend fished 3 and half days and caught a ton of colorado and greenback cutthroat. These lakes are brimming with fish because they rarely get fished and some of the colorado cutts can get up to 6lbs although the biggest ones we caught were pushing 3 1/2 lbs and between 18 and 20" and in full spawning colors, the average was between 14 and 17". The lake is located on Mt. Blanca in the San Luis Valley and takes 6 hours to hike to from the trail head. Saw tons of wildlife including a group of 10 bull elk in velvet and a black bear. Hears a pic of some of the smaller cutts we kept for dinner and another one I caught in the Sangre Di Cristo range awhile back at sand creek lakes.
