I've seen lynx in Utah! Darn near lost my boy to one when he was about 5. We were fishing along the Upper Provo in an isolated area near the road when my kid started crying, when I looked up to see him he was being stalked by a lynx. Now I don't know too many wild cats that are as large as a medium sized dog, with tufts in their ears, and no tail. I got a real good look at him and scared him off when I approached my boy. This would have been about 1988-89 timeframe.
