Shipping a rod
#1
Well, UPS finally managed to do it. I finished a nice G. Loomis C724 GL2 for a customer in IL. Took 3 weeks to get the blank, 2 weeks (working evenign and weekends) to build the rod. Shipped it out packed in a PVC tube after wrapping it in bouble wrap. Took 7 days for the package to get from TX to IL and when it arrived there was about 18" of the tube missing, broken off, completely gone, along with both grips and reel seat.

Searching for kevalar tubes now.........

Lee
Lee's Custom Rods
"Quality is the product of crasftsmanship"

When I ordered a blank once it came in a cardboard tube. Maybe that is a bit flexible. Maybe UPS just ....

Tight lines at sea, screamin kids at home!

Hearing that is enough to break my heart and make me weep!

I had an experience a short time ago although a bit different. Got off a jet and went to collect my (heavy duty) PVC rod tube.

Got to the taxi and could hear this "ever so faint" rattling inside despite all the packing around, and on the end of, the rods.

Took me a month before I could open the tube to see what the damage was.

Fortunately, just the tip was broken off my favourite custom made 8kg plug stick and it repaired real easy.

Even so, I hate hearing about damaged rods.

Burnin Thumbs!

Steve - The MJB
BFT Lures/Baits
http://www.demonjigs.com
