2004 Becoming an Outdoors-Woman Registrations Now Available
#1
PIERRE, S.D. — Registration materials for the 2004 Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) workshop, held Sept. 17-19 at Outlaw Ranch near Custer, are now available.
"We are really excited about this workshop and celebrating 10 years of BOW in South Dakota," said Chad Tussing, Game, Fish and Parks education services coordinator. "Since this is the first year in our two-year West River cycle, we will be offering a number of classes that we did not offer when we held the workshop at Lake Poinsett in 2002 and 2003."
Workshop participants will get to choose from some West River favorites, such as elk hunting, fly fishing for trout, and mountain biking. Also offered are geology, RV camping, digital photography, muzzleloading, beyond hot dogs (outdoor cooking) and an all-day backpacking class. "These are all new classes that I am sure the ladies at the workshop will love," Tussing said.
The three-day BOW workshop offers 33 different classes in four sessions. "Between the small class sizes and the 32-member instructor team, participants get the opportunity for a lot of hands-on instruction and practice in a wide range of outdoor skills," Tussing said. The BOW workshop is designed for anyone age 18 and over who interested in learning new outdoor skills, improving existing skills or meeting other individuals with similar interests.
Registration materials are available at local Wildlife Division offices, South Dakota state parks and online. For more information about the BOW workshop, please call (605) 773-3485 or check out the Game, Fish and Parks BOW web site at
