CWD gets the attention of hunters
#1
CWD or Chronic Wasting Disease is becoming more wide spread. Infected Deer and Elk have been found in a number of States. A few States have elected to destroy all local ruminants and burn the carcasses. This disease is deadly and causes the animal to suffer a slow agonizing death. I advise anyone who hunts any of the Deer family to use caution when butchering an animal. Bone your meat out, do not saw or cut into the vertebrae. After sawing the antlers off, soak all cutting tools in a minimum of 40% bleach/water for at least 10 minutes. The disease is found in the brain and spinal cord tissue. Never feed your dogs any of this tissue as well. I advise contacting your local Game and Fish Department if you have concerns...and trust me, you should.
