Arkansas River
#1
Charley’s Hidden Harbor near Oppelo said the flow from Lock #9 is at 10,000 cubic feet per second with headwater at 284.63 and tail water at 216.34. Catfish have been on the jetty tops. For flat heads, use live shad or float minnows at a depth of 4 feet. Whites are following the catfish channel, and blues have been on the front-side of the jetties. For blues, use whole shad or cut skipjacks. Bass are shallow in the grass. Use a junebug-colored Horny Toad early in the day, and later, try fishing for bass on the upstream-side of the jetties using a Gitzit. Some white bass are schooling in the late evening, and they are mainly on the jetty tip. Float live minnows about 6- to 10-feet deep. Bream are good on black Roostertails fished around the shallow parts of the jetties. Crappie are slow near the creek mouths. Late evening, stripers and some nice whites are being caught using large spoons in the tail water at the dam.
