today the season opens back up to an 8 Fish limit in NJ the Tautog or blackfish as it is more commonly known is a hard fighting fish that lives in rock piles and in wrecks so snags are common when you feel a tap set the hook HARD AND FAST or else they will have you snagged in the rocks they are a very tasty fish that some call poor mans lobster the best bait is green crabs fiddler crabs and clams
