[font "Arial"][black]Richmond, VA -- The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (VDGIF) announced that Terry C. Bradbery has been promoted to the rank of Colonel. Originally from Wytheville, Virginia, Bradbery earned an Associate Degree in Police Science from the Wytheville Community College before earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. He joined VDGIF in February 1987 and completed the Central Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy in June 1987. As a Virginia state game warden he was assigned to Prince George County. Later, he served as a Field Training Officer for new game wardens in the counties in south central Virginia. [/black][/font]

[font "Arial"][black]In 1993, Bradbery was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and worked as the Hunter Education coordinator for the tidewater region. Over the years he became certified in SCUBA and served as a law enforcement SCUBA Diving Assistant Instructor. He also instructed in the areas of General Policing, Defensive Driving, and Wilderness Survival. He has received training at the National Hunter Education Academy at Central Missouri State University; the National Shooting Range Symposium in Salt Lake City, Utah; Tom Brown’s Wilderness School; C.O.M.A.N.D. Narcotics Interdiction School; Indiana River Rescue School; and the School of Polygraph. [/black][/font]

[font "Arial"][black]In January 1996 he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and began a position overseeing Hunter Education programs across the Commonwealth. Under his guidance the program grew tremendously and he was promoted to the rank of Captain in November 1997. With more than 10 years dedicated to Hunter Education and Outdoor Education programs, he has seen the development of the Virginia Hunter Education student and instructor manuals customized for Virginia hunters with classroom materials on topics more relevant to resident students. [font "Arial"][black]Bradbery was promoted to the rank of Major in January 2003. In that position he was responsible for overseeing security, a relatively new area that has evolved from work with Homeland Security and anti-terrorism efforts. He has also overseen the Department’s efforts to establish its own law enforcement academy, and been responsible for recruitment and screening procedures for game warden recruits. [/black][/font]

[font "Arial"][black]He has served on the Board of Directors for Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center. Currently he serves on the Chester Recreational Association Board of Directors. He is a member of the International Hunter Education Association, and in 2003 was presented that group’s Darrell Holt Memorial Award. He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police. [/black][/font]
