"Bows" on the Yakima
#1
[Smile]I had my first trip in the canyon on Wednesday,(9-28) we floated from Umtanum

to near Wymer( forgot the name of the takeout). We got on the water around

8am, 2 rafts with 5 guys. Tackle of choice 4-5 wt fly rods, and light spin rods

( no none of us are hard-core purest ). Spin rods all had 1/4 oz Rooster-tail

spinners(grasshopper-brown). Fly rods all set with floating lines, flys of choice

started with "Stimulator" green,, small caddis patterns, Royal Wolf.

Wednesday the weather was beautiful, but HOT. Fishing was good, not

outstanding but good, everyone had action. Nothing over about 14'', lots of

little guys( 3-4").

Thursday we did the same float, but went down to Roza. Weather was overcast

high clouds and cooler, fishing was HOT HOT HOT!!!! It was the single greatest

trout fishing day of my life. I caught and released at least 20 bows to 16",all

but 2 on dry flys. Royal Wolf was hot for me, along with a small grasshopper

pattern. I had heard of fishing on the Yak like this, but never thought that I

would really experince it.

Don't know when I'll get back to the Yak, but it won't be soon enough. For now

its time to go catch some coho.

Hi , lonehunter here ,

I see it's been a while since you have been to the BigFishTackle boards . With the spring runs about to begin I thought this would be the perfect time to get you reaquanted with the boards and into the free contests here . We not only have the weekly tackle give -a -way for members but we also have the 16 species contest and the product testers wanted board as well . if you need any help at all stop by the michigan board and give me a shout , i'll be right on it .

Thanks !

your fishing pal , lonehunter
