Carters Lake Report
#1
*********************Carters Lake Fishing Report*********
10/15/02

The lake is 5 ft below full pool and rising. The water temp is 69degrees and clear.
STRIPERS:Good, The fish are on their anual migration into the Coosawatee river and major creeks. Topwater action is starting to warm up and should improve as the water cools. Just look for the big schools of bait on your graph and try a 7 inch redfin, in chrome black or the Zara spook if you see fish feeding on top. flatlines baited with jumbo
shinners or Gizzard shad are also working early and late or on overcast sky's. when the sun pops out go to these same baits on downlines 15 to 40ft. under the boat.
SPOTTED BASS: Good The spots are starting to feed up for the winter. Look for schools of bait fish in the major creeks and the river and look for brush piles or blowdowns in the area and you will find spots. there is a topwater bite going on early with fish eating Zara spooks, Sammys
and the Zoom fluke in the pearl color. some fish can also be caught on small deep running crankbaits in pearl or chartruese colors as well as the 1/4 oz chartruese and white Ga. Mountain spinner bait with gold willow leaf blades. If fishing is tough move tight into the brush and
get out the old faithful finesse worms in green pumpkin or watermelon seed on a light line texas rig and fish them slowly down into the brush 15 to 25 ft. deep.
