Rock Fish season is upon us!!!

Attention Ca anglers. Rockfish season will be open as of March 1st.

We will now be able to target and keep certain species that have been off limits for the past 2 months.

Here is a brief list of what is available, depths and limits that apply:

RCG Complex (including all species of Rockfish, Cabezon and Greenlings as defined in Section 1.91):

180 to 360 ft deep until the end of June.

limit of 10 fish in combination.

Bocaccio:
Same depth as RCG Complex
Limit of 1 fish but included in 10 fish limit of RCG Complex.
Length 10" total length

Cabezon:
[b]Same depth as RCG Complex

Limit of 1 fish but included in 10 fish limit of RCG Complex.
Length 15" total length

Kelp or Rock Greenling:
Same depth as RCG Complex
Limit of 1 fish but included in 10 fish limit of RCG Complex.
Length 12" total length

Ocean Whitefish:
[b]Same depth as RCG Complex

limit: 10 fish per person
Length no minimum[/b]

California Sheephead
limit: 5 fish per person
Length 12" total length

Other Federal Groundfish5 (see list online at [url "http://www.dfg.ca.gov/mrd/ groundfish_fedlist.html"]www.dfg.ca.gov/mrd/ groundfish_fedlist.html[/url]

Same depth as RCG Complex
limits vary upon individual species as defined on dfg site.

Leopard Shark:
Boat based anglers:Within Newport Bay, Alamitos Bay, San Diego Bay, and Mission Bay: Open all year
Outside of the above-mentioned bays: Same as RCG Complex, above

Open year-round
Limit: 3 per angler
Length: 36" minimum

any species not listed in this post is still off limits. Lingcod will be available on April 1st. Regs for Lingcod will follow at that time.[/b]
