Indian River Lagoon Report
#1
Florida's Indian River Lagoon - America's most diverse estuary

This past week we fished the northern sections of the Indian River Lagoon.
Several of the anglers I fished with were interested in sight fishing in
shallow water. We spent a lot of time in 8-12" of water looking for tailing
and waking redfish. We poled to out of the way places where the fish
eagerly took our offerings.

We did reel good casting Texas rigged shrimp and small gold spoons to the
shallow fish. Most of the fish we took were small but anytime you can cast
to a sighted fish and watch the fish beeline over to pickup the bait its
very exciting.

We also had very good luck with this past week with keeper size sea trout.
Fishing in 2-3' of water early and using top water plugs we took several
good size fish. We've had a lot of rain lately so the water level is up a
bit. A lot of these trout came from somewhat dirty water. We also saw
large tarpon in the deeper areas of the Lagoon but couldn't convince them to
eat. Spanish Mackerel are thick right now and there was even a report of a
22# king caught in the lagoon. Tarpon are being to show up and in the next
month they with be primary targets.

Thanks,
Capt. Tod Hagan
http://www.fishingcaptain.com
