Hunting with a parachute?
#1
VINTON, Iowa Three eastern Iowa men have been accused in a flying hunt.State officials have seized two experimental aircraft allegedly used during Iowa's shotgun season in December. The Department of Natural Resources says the men used the aircraft, known as "powered parachutes," to chase the deer toward a shooter on the ground.
Charged with illegal hunting/pursing deer with an aircraft are Steve Risse of Dysart, Harry Moeller of Buckingham and John Forbes of Waterloo.
The D-N-R says it's the second Iowa case in which an experimental aircraft has been used to illegally chase deer. The first case, also during the past hunting season, happened in Pottawattie County in western Iowa.
Hunting with an aircraft is illegal under federal and state laws. The D-N-R says the U-S Fish and Wildlife Service is reviewing the case for possible prosecution under federal law.
