Blackfish (Tautog) are here
#1
Bottom fishing is alive and well in RI. Sat. was blown out but on Sun. we managed to catch some nice blackfish up to 8 1/2 lbs. and Sea Bass and Scup too. The blues were all over the place and we jigged up a few of them for some added fun. On Mon. I had 4 good fishermen that limited out on blackfish up to 10+ lbs. and Sea Bass up to 4.8 lbs. We threw back at least 20 blacks and kept 45. Blues were vicious though and they chompped up many sea bass and blacks as they were coming up. It seems like the blacks have left the bay early this year and are in the waters south of Newport right now. It should be a great fall right through Dec. If you are interested in catching some great blackfish action give me a call....liltoot@juno.com
