EAST CAPE, AND MAGDALENA BAY CONDITIONS

EAST CAPE, BAJA CALIFORNIA, MEXICO

IN GENERAL: North winds earlier in the week put a damper on the fishing have
now subsided and by all accounts the fishing is fair to good. Offshore the
tuna are the most popular target and the best area seems to be up toward the
north of Punta Pescadero. Inshore and the beach have kept our clients happy
with the inshore being the best bet.

AIR & SEA - No question that Fall is in the air. Cooler temps in the evenings
with a windbreaker early morning not unreasonable.

Temperature 86° F / 66° F
Humidity 69%
Wind WSW at 7 mph
Conditions Clear
Sunrise 6:23AM MDT
Sunset 5:43 PM MDT
Nov 4 New Nov 11 First Quarter Full Nov 19 Nov 27 Last Quarter

Water Temps 77 - 82.

· OFFSHORE: Sailfish counts are beginning to drop with the cooling of the
water, still a few stripers to be found. Tuna seem to be attracting the most
attention.

· INSHORE: Toro, toro, toro, in big numbers with a few in the teens
everything from see thru's to poppers are working well. Plenty of roosters
mixed in as well and you don't loose much time traveling with them showing
right out in front of the hotels.

· BEACH: Early morning is your best bet with any of the rocky points
producing a interesting array of species including, roosters, jacks,
ladyfish, lookdowns and a few small pargo.

BILLFISH - A few spread out over a large area.

YELLOWFIN TUNA - Still under the porpoise and can be tough to connect with a
flyrod .

DORADO - A few scattered throughout the bay but not the fall bonanza we were
hoping for.

ROOSTERFISH - Different story here with a good show both inshore and from the
beach if you can find the bait schools

JACK CREVALLE - Pretty good both inshore and from the beach.

BARRILETE OR MEXICAN SKIPJACK - Found some large schools out in front of
Punta Colrada this week.

PARGO AND CABRILLA - It is the time of year to start looking around the rocky
points up toward Punta Pescadero.

SIERRA - Yep, they are back, it is interesting how the tin boats attract them.

MAGDALENA BAY, BAJA CALIFORNIA, MEXICO

IN GENERAL: Zing! Pow! @#$%#@! Decribes the action perfectly for our last
trip. Art Rivkin, well known San Diego Businessman brought his son, Mike and
grandsons, Adam, 12 and Taylor, 11 down to show them what saltwater fishing
was all about. "It was all I had hoped for" was his comment at the end of the
trip. Fishing was red hot to good. One day they hooked over twenty marlin and
during the trip also caught dorado, wahoo, yellowfin tuna, yellowtail,
barracuda. One day they stayed inside so the boys could get caught up on
their homework, but did find time to take a side trip up in the mangroves
where they caught halibut, grouper and cabrilla. One of the highlights of the
trip was beachcombing along the beach at Santa Maria Bay where they found
sand dollars as well as a variety of other shells, lobster, and crab swimming
in the surf.
We have had several last minute cancellations and if you want to get in on
the action give Yvonne a call at 800 919 2252. We have space available on the
November 11th - 19th trip and December 5th - 13th.

Offshore - Has lived up to its reputation for being one of the incredible
fisheries in Baja. This year the species includes striped marlin, blues,
blacks, wahoo, tuna, dorado and yellowtail closer to the entrance. This is
the best variety we have had in several years.

MARLIN - They are back for the Fall show and it went from wide open to only
five or six a day during the week.

YELLOWTAIL - All you want of the firecracker variety in Santa Maria Bay they
are even catching them in the surf at Punta Hughes.

CORVINA - Plenty at the pier at San Carlos and also the bridge at the
entrance to town.

SNOOK - As expected the catches continue to improve.

HALIBUT - Sandy beaches and any of the bocas (mouths) to the esteros.

SIERRA - Found them throughout Magdalena Bay proper particularly from
Belchers to the entrada.
