Kansas Catfish Anglers Asked To Report Tagged Fish
#1
MANHATTAN, KS—Kansas State University, in cooperation with the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, is conducting a flathead catfish tagging project on the Kansas River, and it’s asking for anglers’ help.

Anglers who catch a tagged flathead are asked to report the fish via email or phone and provide the tag number, date the fish was caught, weight and length of the fish, and where on the river it was caught. The numbered yellow tags are inserted near the dorsal fin; each displays the email address, flathead@ksu.edu, and the phone number, (785) 532-2413.

Information from anglers, coupled with sampling efforts by the researchers, will help determine the abundance, movement, harvest rates and growth of Kansas River flatheads. Anglers who report tagged fish will be placed into a drawing for a digital camera or a catfish rod.
