IN GENERAL: Good news – little wind late this week. Bad news – it rained.

For the few boats that went out, fishing was good. One blue was caught, a

few stripes and some quality dorado to 40 pounds. Some football-sized tuna

along with a few sierras rounded out the catch.

· OFFSHORE: Remarkably good fishing for billfish and dorado this week.

· INSHORE: Dorado near the shark buoys at Punta Pescadero and jacks and

roosters closer to shore.

· BEACH: The area in front of the arroyo next Scott Glenn's house went

off big time. Schools of sardina were being pounded by a variety of fish

including small roosters, jacks, ladyfish and pompano. Our See Thru Deceiver

worked like a charm this week. For tying directions, go to

BILLFISH - Both blues and stripes caught this week.

YELLOWFIN TUNA - A few close, but the main school’s below Las Frailes.

DORADO - Best bet are the shark buoys in front of Punta Pescadero.

ROOSTERFISH - Beaches from Rancho Leonero to La Ribera.

JACK CREVALLE – You’ll find them the same place as the roosters. Look for

the diving pelicans.

BARRILETE OR MEXICAN SKIPJACK - Plenty of schools sighted from La Ribera to

Punta Colorada.

PARGO AND CABRILLA - Try any of the rocky points and if the wind is blowing,

head up toward Punta Pescadero. You can find a little protection from the

wind there.

SIERRA - Plenty of the toothy mackerel around the bait receivers in front of

IN GENERAL: Both zones are producing good catches offshore. Up toward the

Thetis Bank, look for the bird schools crashing on the sardines. Not only

are the marlin there, but also the dorado and wahoo are mixed in. They’re

also down toward Punta Tosca down toward the Potato Bank or outside the

IN GENERAL: The moon is going into the dark phase and with the improved

water conditions the fishing should bust wide open next week. The 84º blue

water has moved to within 10 miles. The large weed areas we had from the

heavy runoff out of the rivers have mostly disappeared and the few scattered

areas of weeds are concentrating the dorado a lot better.

The boats going for sailfish, are getting two to three per day and at least

a couple of the 20- to 25-pound dorado.

The tuna fishing has gone wide open, but unfortunately there is no size to

them. Paul Philips, fishing with Santiago and Adan on the panga Gitana, went

22 miles and found a huge school of fish. The area was acres in size.

Hooking a few of the 12- to 15-pound fish, the decision was quickly made to

go out to the 55 mile mark. They found another huge area of tuna, but

nothing larger than about 60 pounds. They ended the long day with 15 tuna

and two sailfish (released).

The roosterfish action is still very good with four per boat being the

average. The size is very impressive as they are running between 25- and

45-pounds.

Water Temperature 84
