Boating Participation Expected To Increase
#1
WASHINGTON, D.C.—The results of a new nationwide survey conducted by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) says while marine recreational participation rates in the United States are expected to decline, the actual number of participants are expected to increase. NOAA says the results of its "Projected Participation in Marine Recreation: 2005 & 2010" stem from the fact that forecasted population growth more than offsets projected declines in participation rates.

The survey indicates overall boating participation is expected to expand from 15.95 million people in 2005 to 16.7 million in 2010. Boating participation rates, on the other hand, are expected to decline from 7.04 percent this year to 6.97 percent in 2010.
