Kentucky Proposes Limiting Set Lines
#1
FRANKFORT, KY—The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources (KDFWR) recently proposed to change the regulations for set line use. In the proposal, limblines and jug-lines would not be allowed in state-owned or managed lakes less than 500 acres in size. Anglers would also be prohibited from using jugs on Bullock Pen, Elmer Davis, Kincaid, Greenbo and Carter Caves lakes. Swan, Ballard and Peal WMAs would be exempt from the new rule.
Beyond these waterbodies, the state is proposing a limit of 25 limb- or jug-lines per angler and 50 jug-lines per boat on waters statewide.
Pending legislative approval, these regulations will go into effect March 1, 2006.
