Lake Mead Live Bait Fishing
#1
Sunday, September 25th - Late post
Hit the water early, netting shad before first light.

Retrieves a net full of nice shad. We were only in about 4 feet of water.
Notice how dark it is. We were the only boat in the area at this time. It took several tosses to fill the live wells.

We anchored at the opening to Las Vegas Wash.

View of the fleet from our fishing location. At one time I counted 19 boats in the immediate area. Fishing was very steady. We were successful in landing about 35 stripers. Most of the fish were about 1 1/2 pounds. We released several small ones and a couple of skinny ones.

Grandfather and grandson enjoy a day of fishing at the lake.

Some of the stripers that will end up in the freezer. It was a great day to be on the water. It is always fun to watch a kid catch fish. I can't wait to do it again.

Dear Bay:

So that's how it's done! Nice post. We will be trying the live shad as the wife hates the smell of the anchovies. I'm tired of baiting her hook then watching her out fish us (she does it all the time!) How do you rig them? Weight at bottom of rig? Sliding sinker swivel, hook on a leader? Hook in the back or in the lip (like Sue hooked me).

Thanks
