A couple of years ago I hooked and landed a 10.5 pound largemouth. I caught the fish on a wooly bugger on my five weight rod. (released him to fight another day)
I was fishing from my kayak in a farm pond which I no longer have access to. This is unfortunate as the pond is loaded with lunker bass and big pumpkinseeds. The former owner also has a stocked trout pond on his property but he told me that the bass pond had never actually been stocked. Amazing that it developed into the fishery that it has become. Unfortunately the property was bought out by a big corporate business and they want to turn it into there own private playground. It's going to take a while for me to find another quality fishing hole like that one!
