What line is right for you?

I found this sight that explains different lines for different uses, although each manufacturer might have their own specs.

Since I do more of my flyfishing in the Ocean, I usually opt for the shooting taper.

It helps me get the presentation piece in the dinner area of some of the surf species and works with me in the wind and not against me. It is especially good to use with streamers or other heavier flys.[cool]

WF/F for me, but I have been really considering DT because everything recommends it for roll casting. A lot of the places I fish in the High Sierra's have tight shorelines with lots of brush and trees. Maybe I'll pick up some DT line next, as soon as I get an extra spool. On the Bass Player forum I frequent, it's referred to as GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome). The feeling that no matter what you have, there is always something you want (or need[Wink]). I am still having that a lot with FF.

Discman to totally confuse you[Wink] before you invest in DT (which is a good choice for what you are saying) check a Triangle Taper TT by Wulff. Nothing like it.

FG, by the way, congrats on the moderator thing!!! [Smile]

Thanks for the tip on th line! I have heard about the triangle taper and have looked for reviews online, not a whole lot of luck. I could have spent more time at it though. This may sound like a stupid question[blush], but, is it triangle shaped? I mean instead of the line being round, is it three sided? I'll look into it though, it may be a while before I pick up an extra spool and more line. The wife is starting to frown on how much I'm spending between this and Bass equip. With strings costing about $30+ a set and line costing around $50+, not to mention all the flies, leaders, tippet material, the new reel, the new Marcus Miller J-Bass I am looking at, etc., etc., things add up!! So I have plenty of time to look into what I want. As always, keep the tips coming. I am learning a lot from you and the others. Thanks a ton!!!

Triangle taper is round, the weighted portion is shaped like a missle instead of a bullet, cone shaped.
