While there is more open water on the Blackfoot now than last week, this river is still very much in winter mode. Unless you've got a specific open riffle in mind, leave this one alone for another couple of weeks. [/li][li]Fly Patterns: Junk, junk, and more junk. Worms, DB stones, Bitch Creeks, and dark-colored streamers. [/li][li]Hatches: Midges[/li][li]Weather Forecast: See Clark Fork[/li][li]Other Information: Warmer weather and rain in the forecast should make this a good week to head down to the Clearwater. The Root is mostly free of ice these days aside from the sloughs and backwaters. Skwala and nemoura nymphs are active in the riffles right now and bouncing bottom with olive, peacock, and/or brown stonefly nymphs has been very effective in the last couple of days. Also try worms, princes, copper johns, etc. Another week or two and this river is going to go off![/li][li]Hatches: Midges...skwalas and nemouras are on the way! [/li][li]Fly Patterns: Streamers, nymphs and midges.[/li][li]Weather Forecast: See Clark Fork.[/li][li]Other Information: Skwala nymphs are moving around in good numbers in the riffles of the Clark Fork and Bitterroot. We're looking forward to a great spring! Book your trip today 1-800-297-8996.[/li][/ul] Rock Creek [ul][li]General: 157 cfs. The Creek has opened up quite a bit in the last few days and is now a good option again. No secrets here, whether you're on the lower or upper end, tie on a double bead stone with a worm, or prince, or copper john, or egg, or scud, or Flashback PT, or another double bead stone dropper and let 'em have it... [/li][li]Hatches: Midges [/li][li]Fly Patterns: San juan worms, princes, double bead stones, eggs, and other beadhead offerings. Buggers and sculpins crawled on the bottom.[/li][li]Weather Forecast: See Clark Fork [/li][li]Other Information: The lower end of Rock Creek and the Clark Fork near the confluence have good numbers of skwalas active in the riffles at this[/li][/ul]You can find more reports at the following web address:
