Wisconsin Bill Would Change Boating Safety Requirements
#1
MADISON, WI-According to a story by The Associated Press, the Wisconsin Legislature is in the process of approving a new law that would require 16-year-old residents to pass a safety course before they could operate a powerboat in the state. The bill has reportedly already been approved by the state legislature and is now awaiting Gov. Jim Doyle's signature. Under current Wisconsin law, children between the ages of 10 and 15 can operate a boat only if they're under the supervision of a parent or other adult. Children between the ages of 12 and 15 can operate a boat without adult supervision if they've passed a state-sanctioned boating safety class. The bill does not change those provisions.
