Region 2 Fishing Report
#1
Black Bass: Have become very active over the past week. They are chasing crankbaits and jigs.

Crappie: Last weekend the crappie were beginning to come up into the treetops, then after the cooler nights during the week, they slowed down. They are still near the surface but are staying in deeper water.

White Bass: None.

Catfish: Still very slow.

Sunfish: Are on all the banks and have moved into the treetops

Black Bass: Are increasingly active and some larger fish have been caught this past week. Most are being caught using crankbaits.

Crappie: Several limits were taken last weekend, but they all but shut off during the week. A few are still being taken with some anglers getting close to their limit, but that is the exception. If the warm weather holds and the nights don't get too cold, they will be back in a few days.

White Bass: None

Catfish: Still very slow.

Sunfish: Are active on all the banks and in the treetops. Local tournament anglers are having impressive catches. Crankbaits (Shad Raps) and jigs are also doing well for bass. Fish are being caught all over the lake. It’s a good time to be bass fishing on Percy Priest!! Striper: A few large stripers are being caught around the Gallatin Steam Plant on Old Hickory Lake. Live bait---shad or shiners---can catch good fish. Skipjack are good, too, if you can find them. Crappie: Both lakes are showing excellent signs of good crappie fishing, and yes, that includes Old Hickory Lake. Minnows and jigs are producing fish all over Percy Priest. Old Hickory is producing fish in creeks. Work various mid-water depths (5 to 15 feet). Hybrids: Very good action on Percy Priest. Live bait is excellent. Store bought shiners are working well fishing tight-lines and trolling. Bank anglers should be catching these fish soon as they work into various coves and bays on Priest. Trout: Recently released below Percy Priest Dam and on the West Fork of the Stones River at Nice Mill, trout fishing is excellent. In-line spinners, corn, and Berkley Power Eggs are good baits. White Bass: These fish are showing up around the Gallatin Steam Plant. A few are being taken in the forks of the Stones River, but the big run of white bass has yet to materialize. Sauger: On the Cumberland River from the 231 Bridge to the Dam is excellent. Lots of fish in the 2 to 4-pound range are being taken on jigs and minnows
