thats what i thought i was going to be doin at daylight at the soldier creek side.sunday morning my hopes were high but as the hours went by trolling with everything in my box.i was watching more guys off the shore knocking them in one after the other,on power bait, but i was stuck on getting one off the jigs they have been talking about.i finally hooked into 3 rainbows about 15'' s,i was planning on catching 20-25 fish or at least 10 but ,the action was low for trollers [i think]and hot for powerbaiters.next time my luck might change or i need one of these guys that can catch 20 -30 fish an hour to take me along, hint ! hint!,to better fish days

GORGEATTIC, After ice out, the fish, especially trout, hang right oh the shoreline, alot of times in less than 10 feet of water. This is one reason the shore fishermen do so well. To catch these fish trolling, you need to put lures where the fish are. Planer boards or in line planer boards are the way to do this. I run my board sometomes 8 feet from the bank!I use small FLOATING crankbaits, jointed Rapalas, #7 or #5, Clown, chartruse, or flo. red. They only run about 4 feet deep so they rarely get hung up. I run different baits as they get closer to the boat. I like to flatline taildancers, little rippers or Grappleshads right off the boat.Try to cover as many depths as you can in your spread. This is something that is not easy to do with popgear or spoons. I know a lot of guys dont run Bass lures for trout, but they really are effective. You really need to be right on the shoreline, Hope this helps.

GORGEATTIC..I live in Jackson Wy And fish Jackson Lake almost weekly. I usually post my reports on the Wyoming BFT page. Believe it or not it was still iced over last weekend! I caught somr nice browns and a mack from shore on tube jigs. Like you I am addicted to Flaming Gorge. If gas wasn't so much I would go down there every other weekend. I go to Tarpon Jim's website all the time and look at the monster Lakers he gets. It's better than porn !!! If you get up this way let me know, I can tell you what's been happening here..JL
