Willard from shore
#1
I'm headed up on a campout to willard this weekend and was just wondering if it would be worth it bring a fishing pole. I'll be staying at the Pelican Bay campground, is there any place close to that that would be worth my time trying to fish? I don't know what type of fish I'd be looking at targeting from the shore in this area of the reservoir, if any one knows this reservoir well any help would be great. thanks

I'd take a pole. Get yourself a 2 pole permit and soak a crawler or some chicken liver on one pole, then cast plastics and crank baits with the other. Willard is a giant bathtub, and I don't think any one "honey hole" is better than the next.

i had success from the shore fishin nightcrawlers and carp meat at different times early in the year at willard. Sometimes i got skunked tho...you just never know what to expect...other than beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Caught a few fish working jigs pretty slow on the bottom, as well, but be prepared to lose some gear.

EDIT: i caught wiper, channels, crappie, smallmouth, walleye and carp.
