At the 'Nelle at 6 bells yesterday a.m. fished until 1:30 p.m. two small smallies, two decent smallies, a tiny rainbow, and one nice 18" rainbow. Good weather, fishing shallow up in the canyons. Saw fish suspending in 30' of water. Didn't miss but one or two bites, so fishing was not fast and furious. Two guys that passed us trolling from the river mouth west toward the dam said that they had not hooked up after two hours of trying. We used a variety of crank baits, spinners, small spoon and minnow imitations but the smallies were all caught using rainbow colors, the rainbow caught using a white spinner. All fish caught before 11 a.m. Didn't take a water temp reading.
