[size 5]#06–152 June 12, 2006 [/size] Charleston harbor hosts third round of Governor’s Cup Billfishing Series
Fifty-six boats entered the Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina Billfish Tournament in the third round of the Governor’s Cup Billfishing Series, and during the course of the weekend, a total of 31 blue marlin, seven white marlin and 12 sailfish were released.

[/url] place at the Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina May 31–June 3. The [url "http://govcup.dnr.sc.gov/"]Governor’s Cup Billfishing Series[/url] features five tournaments along the coast that began May 3 at Edisto Island and ends July 1 at the Charleston City Marina’s HMY/Viking MegaDock Billfishing Tournament.

Points for Governor’s Cup tournaments are awarded as follows: 300 points for a tagged or released blue marlin, 150 points for a tagged or released white marlin, and 100 points for a tagged or released sailfish. Also, boats are awarded 25 participation points for each Series tournament entered up to a maximum of three events.
“Fish Killer,” owned by Jim Cline of Murrells Inlet, won the Best Billfish Boat and earned 1,000 points for catching and releasing three blue marlin and one sailfish. Cline was also awarded the Outstanding Billfish Conservationist honors for four released billfish.
Finishing in second place at the Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina Tournament was “Sportin’ Life,” owned by Manley Eubank of Charleston and captained by Bobby Garmany. He tallied 750 points for two blue marlin and one white marlin released.
Third-place honors for Best Billfish Boat went to “Caramba,” owned by Bob Faith of Mt. Pleasant, and captained by Dale Lackey. “Caramba” earned 700 points for catching and releasing two blue marlin and one sailfish.
Mark Spinner caught a 58-pound wahoo to earn the Largest Wahoo Award aboard “Haphazard,” owned by Harry “Hap” Kennerty.
The Largest Dolphin Award went to Peden Dunn, aboard “Jabez,” owned by Carl Ulm. He reeled in a 51.2-pound dolphin.
Louis Costa, aboard “Sportsman,” owned by Bubba Simmons, caught a 50.1-pound yellowfin tuna to attain honors for the Largest Tuna Award.
The Outstanding Female Angler Award went to Kasey Dantzler for catching and releasing a blue marlin on “Dough Boy,” owned by Ben Dantzler Jr. Danztler, 14, also won first place accolades for Outstanding Youth Angler. Anne-Bradley Moore won second-place honors for the Outstanding Female Angler Award for catching and releasing a blue marlin on “Rascal,” owned by Norman Pulliam. Third-place honors for the Outstanding Female Angler Award went to Kitty Mellone for the catch and release of a blue marlin on “My Three Sons.”
Bobbie Faith, 11, won second place honors in the Outstanding Youth Angler category for the catch and release of a blue marlin on “Caramba,” owned by Bob Faith. Third-place Outstanding Youth Angler went to Richard Coen Jr., 14, also for the catch and release of a blue marlin. He fished on “Aggressor,” owned by Richard Coen.
No billfish were landed during the Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina Billfish Tournament.
