Salt Creek, Valparaiso
#1
Decided to give Salt Creek a try this afternoon on my way to see a man about a job...the creek was fairly clear, surprisingly so, but I tried a 1/32 oz. tube on my ultra lite and worked pretty tight to the shoreline and visible pieces of protruding structure...caught a few creek chubs and at least I got something that swims on the line when I spotted this great looking overhang...

...so I tossed my tiny offering way underneath - as soon as my jig hit the water the "freight train" hit came, almost jerking the tiny little rod out of my hands...and as soon as she hit, the line went limp...line broke, lure lost, memory on an August afternoon received in good spirit.

Nature Notes: saw several chipmunks scurrying around on the opposite shore, and a night heron stoically poised at the water's edge.

Basically, I got skunked (creek chubs don't count)...but, still a wonderful time had down by Salt Creek.
