IN GENERAL: Cloudy and even a small amount of rain graced the East Cape this week, winds continued to be sporadic with a few good days in between. The dorado and tuna bite that has been so good for the last month seemed to slow down a click from what it has been.

· OFFSHORE: A bit slower but still happening.

· INSHORE: Plenty of sierra to keep everyone flinging flies.

· BEACH: Pretty tough with the early morning being the best before the wind gets going.

BILLFISH – Sounds like the tailers being seen began to bite a bit.

YELLOWFIN TUNA - Look out. These are not the football variety.

DORADO - Most of the fish are above average in size.

ROOSTERFISH – A few smaller ones on the beach.

JACK CREVALLE - A lot of five pounders that think they are 20-pounders.

BARRILETE OR MEXICAN SKIPJACK - Forget 'em. Go look for tuna and dorado!

PARGO AND CABRILLA – Try the rocky points for the best results

SIERRA - Just before sunup or late afternoon on the calm days is the best

time.

Wed., Feb. 12, 2003

IN GENERAL: Late February, and plenty of what could be expected, “whale buzz” more being seen every day at the entrance as well as a few new born. It is difficult to find anyone that wants to talk about fishing. Still a few yellowtail and sierra out beyond the Entrada and even a few bonita and skipjack to play with. Back up in the Esteros the currents have been pretty strong and the fish not very hungry.

Water Temperature 67-71

Air Temperature 66°-66°

Humidity 64%

Wind Calm

Conditions Overcast

Visibility 3 miles

Sunrise 7:00 a.m. MST

Sunset 6:19 p.m. MST

Feb. 16 Full Feb. 23 Last Quarter Mar. 2 New Mar. 11 First Quarter

YELLOWTAIL - Best bet is out a mile outside the Entrada in deep water.

CORVINA – Action dropped off dramatically.

SNOOK - Only an occasional one. Next month should be better with the

lessening tides. IGFA has created a new category for Pacific snook, so there

could be a few world records in Magdalena Bay's future and maybe yours.

HALIBUT – Sand beach on the south side of Punta Belcher produced a few.

SIERRA - Punta Belcher is pretty good right now.
