fishing report 2-17-03
#1
extreme cold weather and winds have kept a lot of anglers indoors this week along with rising gas costs . this may have been the reason for "fair" reports .

western u.p. fishing has been slow for pike ,pearch ,walleye and bluegill . due to cold weather and uncertain ice conditions .

central u.p. fishing has been hit and miss with pike , walleye and muskey doing the best .

eastern u.p. fishing is slow , but the hot spot is scott's bay as the big pearch are starting to show up

n. east corner l.p., the big pearch are starting to show up , steelhead and browns are coming in too ( slow ) pike and walleye are on the rise too .

n.west corner l.p. , fishing has been fair to good , with houghton lake being the best , lack of vegitation is the reason there .

thumb area , fishing has been fair to good on the big water , steelhead browns and pearch , walleye still slow . inland waters are producing gills at a fair rate , but on the small size .

southwest corner , steelhead and walleye have been slow , but numbers are starting to increase . some pike are being taken " good size " , ice is not worth the risk for panfish , very little info there .

southeast corner ,big pearch , pike and walleye are all doing well , use caution on the ice . no reports of steel in the rivers , thin ice .
