Sheepshead & Snapper Bite Strong: Bonita Beach, FL Fishbuster Dave

[cool][font "Arial"][size 2]We fished Sunday with John Leach, at the Bonita reefs. Seas were rough, and fishing was slow, but we got 6 keeper sheepshead, and released gag grouper shorts. We fished Monday with Ray Ford and son, Brian, again in rough seas at the Bonita reefs, using live shrimp. We caught nice sheepshead to 19 ½ inches, and keeper mangrove snapper, and released gag grouper shorts to 20 inches. Fishing Tuesday with the Jerry Fox party in 28 feet off Bonita Beach, we caught 4 limits (20) mangrove snapper and two porkfish in the first hour and 45 minutes of fishing! We also released gag shorts. Wednesday we fished with the Fred Williams party, at the Bonita reefs, and caught 12 mangrove snapper all about 15 inches, along with keeper triggerfish and white porgies. Peter Haluenen and friend, Dirk, fished with us Thursday in 29 feet off Bonita Beach. We caught 3 limits of mangrove snapper to 15 inches, and released one limit. We also caught big sheepshead to 18 inches, and porkfish, all on shrimp. Fishing Friday 10 miles off Bonita Beach with the Jim Sistek party, we caught 3 limits of mangrove snapper to 14 inches, sheepshead to 17 inches, and grunts. We released gag grouper shorts. Winds howled over the weekend, keeping us in port.[/size][/font]
