Well, I didn't get the fishing gear, but I got the next best thing.........A new 3 burner grill. This is the caddilac of conventional cooking hardware. I can't wait to charr up some freshly caught fish on it this next season. I guess the wife figures I have enough fishing poles. LOL, I can't blame her, i've got enough to fill an entire shed as it is.

When you already have 264 rods, 159 reels, rod racks to hold most of them, and tackle to use on them, what else could Santa Clause possibly get me?

Well Santa did go all out and got me a new fishing license for 07 and a really nice watch from Wallys World.

The watch has the moon phase, sunrise/sunset, major and minor tide alarms, GPS, holds 50 waypoints, has compass and even displays the time of day.

For those whom are concerned, the Major and minor tide markers are equivelant to your hand held GPS devices that tell you when the Best or Good times are to hunt and fish.

They also help the Saltwater fisherman to figure out when to launch the float tube with the tide and not against it.[cool]

Santa sure Rocked this year!![Image: git.gif]

i didnt get any fishing stuff for christmas. i usually just buy what i want, within reason, so i dont have to wait until christmas. i bought my first ice fishing tip up a few days ago. it should come in the mail soon. i think i'll create a new thread to get some tips on how to use the thing.

hope you all had a great christmas!

LOL, that's one hell of a watch; I bet you got one hell of an instruction manual with it. [Tongue] I wonder how accurate that GPS is in comparison to a standard GPS. I was always skeptical about those watch GPS's.

I saw a watch that I wanted from Bass Pro that had the tides, Barometric Pressure, and the moon phase; including all the regular features. I think it was around 100 bucks or so. Which really isn't bad for a good watch with all those features. All those features give you important information that can help you on the water.

That watch you got will prove to be pretty handy on the water as well. You'll have to fill us in on how well and accurate the features are as you try them out.[cool]

The watch is pretty accurate for a xx.xxx readout. You and I know that it is good to within 1/10th of a mile. Not bad when you already know your spots well and then match them up with a good sonar.

I sure wished that mine had the barometer too. That is a good instrument for fishing folks too.

Your tide, moonphase, majors and minors are all syncronized to the initial GPS coordinates that you set it up with.

I had to tell the watch where I was at the time of programming. It lets me know where I am after that.

All in all, it wasn't a bad deal for around 40bucks.[cool]

40 bucks? Holy crap that cheap, no matter how small the GPS is. I was figuring on atleast a bill for it. That's a pretty sweet deal dude. Now i'm going to have to look it up at wally world and see about me a GPS watch.[cool]

It is made by Casio. It is the Pathfinder model with the fishing timer. The timer automatically goes off at the majors and minors which are respectively 1 hour before high and low tides.[cool]

Still though, with a GPS in it. I remember when the GPS technology first came out. All there use to be was Loran C. A loran was better than nothing, but you'd better have a good sonar and some extra time to find the spot. LOL

Well, I didn't recieve any fishing gear per-se, but I recieved some outdoors gear including a Becker BK-11 "Becker Necker", made in the USA by Camillus and a Buck 110, also made in the USA. No doubt they'll follow me fishing.

On the Necker, I attached the snap link to hang the Kydex sheath from a belt loop as opposed to wearing it around the neck.

Wow!!! It looks like you got all the good stuff. Maybe my Chrismas stocking was too small.

Next year I'm going to put out a stocking the size of a Volkwagen. Perhaps that will work.[cool]
