Weekly Fishing Report NORTHWEST AREA

ABIQUIU LAKE : Ice has formed at the back of coves and up the Chama River channel. Fishing was slow for all species.
ALBUQUERQUE AREA DRAINS: Trout fishing on the Albuquerque, Corrales and Bernalillo Drains was fair-to-good this past week for anglers using power bait, salmon eggs, small crappie jigs and small parachute adams . Fishing on the Belen Drain was good using power bait, salmon eggs and small bead head nymphs. At the Corrales Drain, anglers also reported catching bluegill, catfish and small largemouth bass. They were using small crappie jigs.
ANIMAS RIVER : Trout fishing was fair for anglers using small bead head nymphs.
BLUEWATER LAKE : As of this past Monday the ice was reported as about 12 inches thick. Fishing was slow-to-fair for anglers using ice jigs tipped with wax worms for trout. Fishing pressure remained light. For updated ice conditions, call the state park office at 505-876-2391.
CHAMA RIVER : Water flow below El Vado Lake on Monday morning was 211cfs and36cfs below Abiquiu. Trout fishing was slow. A few fish were taken by anglers using leeches, power bait and worms. Fishing pressure was very light.
CONSERVANCY PARK LAKE : Trout fishing was good for some but slow for others. We visited the ponds on Wednesday and it appeared most of the catching was taking place at the upper end of the middle pond. Anglers were doing best using power bait, wax worms and salmon eggs. A few fish were taken on small spoons and spinners.
EL VADO LAKE : We had no reports from anglers this week.
FENTON LAKE : As of Monday the lake was covered with about 8-to-9 inches of ice. Trout fishing was fair for anglers using worms, wax worms, meal worms and salmon eggs. The state park office at the lake has advised us to inform anglers that they will be fishing at their own risk. For updated ice conditions, call the state part office at 505-829-3630.
HERON LAKE : We had no reports from anglers this week.
JACKSON LAKE : We had no reports from anglers this week.
JEMEZ WATERS: As of Monday, water flow on the Jemez near Jemez Springs was 27cfs. Trout fishing on the lower Jemez was good for anglers using small bead head nymphs, wax worms and salmon eggs. Some of our best reports came from anglers fishing below the bridge at the Ranger Station.
LAKE FARMINGTON : We had no reports from anglers this week.
MANZANO LAKE : We had no reports from anglers this week.
NAVAJO LAKE : Bad weather kept anglers off the lake this past week. Your best chances of catching fish here this time of year is to troll for big brown and rainbow trout. Try using light line and troll big crank baits up the Pine arm.
RAMAH LAKE : We had no reports from anglers this week.
SAN JUAN : Water flow below Navajo Lake as of Monday morning was 525cfs. Trout fishing through the Quality Waters was good for anglers using San Juan worms, red annelids, small bead head pheasant tail nymphs, egg patterns, red and tan larva and small bunny leeches. Further downstream, fishing was fair-to-good using night crawlers, bead head nymphs, bead head wooly buggers and power bait.
