2007 Kingfish Tour schedule, registration announced

[size 1]BENTON, Ky. - FLW Outdoors announced its 2007 Wal-Mart FLW Kingfish Tour schedule Wednesday complete with top awards of $100,000 in every qualifier and $150,000 in the Wal-Mart FLW Kingfish Tour Championship.

In 2007, the nation's top kingfish teams will fish five events - four $300,000 qualifiers and the $500,000 no-entry-fee championship - for a total of $1.7 million cash. Each of these stops will be featured in a one-hour episode of "FLW Outdoors" broadcast Sundays at 11 a.m. Eastern time to 80 million FSN (Fox Sports Net) households in the United States and delivered weekly to more than 350 million households in Europe, Asia and Africa.

The top award in each qualifier includes $40,000 plus $60,000 in Hydra-Sports, Scarab, Seaswirl, Wellcraft, Yamaha and Evinrude contingency bonuses. The top award in the championship includes $75,000 plus $75,000 in boat and engine contingency bonuses. Payouts in every qualifier extend through 40th place, which pays as much as $1,500. The championship payout extends through 54th place, which pays as much as $2,750.

Qualifying tournaments run Friday through Sunday, with a full field of 100 boats competing on the first two days and the top five teams advancing to day three. Winners are determined by the weight of the heaviest kingfish from Friday or Saturday plus the heaviest kingfish from Sunday. Sunday weigh-ins will be held at local Wal-Mart stores.

Competition kicks off April 13-15 in Sarasota, Fla., followed by tournaments June 8-10 in Fort Pierce, Fla.; Aug. 17-19 in Beaufort, S.C.; and Sept. 28-30 in Atlantic Beach, N.C. After these qualifying events are complete, the top 50 teams will advance to the FLW Kingfish Tour Championship in Biloxi, Miss., Nov. 2-4.

Entry fees for 2007 remain unchanged at $1,500 per team for each qualifying tournament. The top 50 teams from the 2006 FLW Kingfish Tour and the top five teams from each division of the 2006 Wal-Mart FLW Kingfish Series may register for the 2007 FLW Kingfish Tour beginning today through March 14. Hydra-Sports, Scarab, Seaswirl and Wellcraft boat owners may register beginning March 15. All other entries will be accepted beginning March 16. Teams that enter all four qualifying tournaments by March 27 will be given priority over teams that enter fewer than four events.
