When you start out to build your first rod, don't be afraid to ask questions here and also the suppliers you get your components from. I would also recommend starting with a design that is simple and easy to do. The best part of a custom rod isn't how pretty it is or how fancy the butt wrap is, its how the rod feels, it's sensitivity, how well it casts, all thest things are the performance and that is what we are all looking for in a custom rod.
