eagle claw "beast"
#1
Hi there, my name is Neil and I am from Trinidad in the West Indies. I am an avid spinfisherman and at present I use 2 reels, a Daiwa 7000C reel that holds 350 yds. of 15lb. test and a Penn 704Z Spinfisher which holds a little less than the Daiwa. Both reels have some wear and I am looking for an affordable reel with a large capacity and a smooth drag. So far I have found the Eagle Claw Beast spinning reels to hold a lot of line, but can anyone tell me just how reliable they are in terms of drag smoothness and resistance to saltwater? Drag is very important because I occasionally encounter hard running species like big King Mackerel, Jack Crevalle and Tarpon.

Hey Niel

If you head up to the saltwater board and take a look at the "GT Fishing" post, you will see some useful links on reels for heavy duty fish. The same reels apply to your part of the world if your running into king mackerel from either land or boat IMO.

Let us know how you get on with the information in that thread and then come back and let us know if you have more Q's.

Burnin Thumbs!

Steve B
Moderator Lures/Baits Forum
http://www.demonjigs.com
