Magnetic control on the side of a reel?
#1
Can anyone tell me what this does? Ive had 2 reels with it and have yet to figure out what it does. It has a dial(not the cast control and not the drag)on the left side that turns 360 with a + and -. Hope I'm making this clear?

It's a cast control "magnetic braking system" to lessen the likelihood of backlash, also known as "professional overrun ". Notice I said "lessen the likelihood", not "prevent". Tutn it toward + and it applies more brake, and toward - gives less brake.

Nice to see you over here!

Is it a bait casting reel or a spining open reel?

I have a fly rod reel that has a magnet disk as well, its primary perpus is a drag. it is ment to keep the spool from spinning when pulling line from the reel... Nice reel, works well... for left or right handed fisherman....
